Computer System Sustainability Toolkit:
A Practical Guide for Schools (2nd Edition)
Across the world, governments, donors, private companies, parents and schools are establishing computer facilities and connecting them to the Internet in an effort to improve education. Although well intentioned, a common result of these efforts is the challenge schools have in keeping their computers running, covering increased costs for electricity, paying for Internet connectivity and integrating the use of computers into the curriculum.
The Computer System Sustainability Toolkit is designed to help staff, students and parents at schools gain the skills needed to develop and implement plans to establish and/or sustain their computer systems. Developed in collaboration with Winrock International, this web-based interactive toolkit helps users select the most cost-effective mix of ICT and energy systems for projects across sectors.
It provides useful information about the energy requirements of ICT
equipment, energy solutions for rural ICT projects, and decision-making
support tools in the form of spreadsheets and web-based calculation
tools. You'll also find case studies from around the world and lots

Making the Connection: Scaling Telecenters for Development
The telecenter movement’s exceptional growth in the past decade
has been driven by two key factors: recognition of the importance of
information and communication technology (ICT) for development and poverty
alleviation, and the fact that “shared-access facilities,”
such as telecenters, offer the most promise for extending the reach
of ICT to the greatest number of people. This book identifies and discusses
the most pressing issues facing the global telecenter movement, presents
a view of the current state of knowledge with regard to telecenters,
and highlights possible paths forward.

Gender, Information Technology and Developing Countries: An Analytical Study
The purpose of the study is to provide USAID's Office of Women and
Development with a conceptual framework to inform their creation of
appropriate information and communication technology (IT) programs and
activities for women and girls in developing countries. Presenting a
